What Is An Accredited Managing Agent?
By Doris Ho | February 25, 2022
The Accredited Managing Agent (AMA) scheme is an industry framework established by the Association of Property and Facility Managers (APFM) and the Singapore Institute of Surveyors and Valuers (SISV).
It signifies a MA’s fulfillment of the grading criteria for relevant skills, code of ethics, conditions of contracts, feedback, financial standing etc, set in place by the accrediting bodies.
This accreditation helps MCSTs to make an informed choice when looking for a Managing Agent with trained strata management personnel and the ability to maintain high standards in their service delivery.
There are 2 grades under the AMA, Grade A and Grade B. MAs who attain Grade A means they have the capability to manage estates of any size. Grade B means the MA can manage estates of 150 units or less.
CWL Facilities Management Pte Ltd is proud to be graded by the assessment panel as a Category A Accredited Managing Agent since 18 September 2017.
“MCSTs and strata unit owners will certainly stand to benefit if their MAs are accredited, as our accredited MAs will have to meet certain predetermined standards and professionalism. Accredited MAs will stand in good stead to value add to the management and operation of all Management Corporations, residents and their guests,” said Dr Lim Lan Yuan, President of APFM in its joint press release with the Building and Construction Authority on 23 June 2021.
In Singapore’s fast-growing property landscape, accredited MAs with higher management competencies will benefit the entire industry value chain and become the way forward in the future.
